Terriers Sweep Bears, 2-0 and 7-3

The Brown softball team dropped a pair of games to the Boston University Terriers on Wednesday at Malvern Field in Boston, by scores of 2-0 and 7-3. The Bears fall to 2-18 overall, while the Terriers improve to 12-11.

Despite some great pitching in the first contest by Brown’s Erin Durlesser (Santa Monica, CA), who allowed only two earned runs and seven hits in six innings while striking out seven, the Bears were held to a mere three hits by pitching sensation Robyn Horrick, who also struck out seven. Kerry Herr led the Terriers to victory, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a double. Durlesser picked up one of Brown’s hits, and dropped her season record to 0-7 on the mound with the 2-0 loss.

Field errors played a large part in the second contest, as Boston University picked up four and Brown racked up a season-high seven errors. The Terriers smacked ten hits off of senior pitcher Ellie Blake (Downers Grove, IL), getting six earned runs in 3.1 innings, before Aleana Sutton (West Hartford, CT) took over in relief for the remainder of the game. The Bears had six hits, led by senior Tami Parrott (Wantage, NJ), who went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Blake was tagged with her seventh loss of the season on the mound.

The Bears will open their Ivy competition this weekend, as the team travels to Cornell on Saturday and Columbia on Sunday.
