Bears Drop Doubleheader to UCSB Gauchos
In the first contest, Brown out-hit UC Santa Barbara 9-6 and had no errors in the field, but the Gauchos pulled away in the ninth inning to win by a 5-4 margin. Second-baseman Julia Iudicello (McLean, VA) and shortstop Melissa Brown (Moreno Valley, CA) both hit 2-for-4 at the plate, with Iudicello scoring two runs and Brown driving in one run. Tami Parrott (Wantage, NJ) and Erin Durlesser (Santa Monica, CA) each picked up an RBI as well, going 1-for-4 batting. Durlesser was tagged with the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits in nine innings pitched.
UC Santa Barbara easily took home the next game, out-hitting Brown 12-5 and winning 12-2 in five innings. Durlesser and Katie Tone (North Reading, MA) each went 1-for-2 at the plate, while Ellie Blake (Downers Grove, IL) earned the loss on the mound.
The Bears will face Loyola Marymount at noon this Saturday before heading to Boston University next Wednesday on April 4th.
