Bears Split With Wildcats, Pick Up First Victory
In the opening game, Tami Parrott (Wantage, NJ) drove in three of Brown’s runs, going 2-for-3 with a double and a single, and Julia Iudicello (McLean, VA) was also 2-for-3 with two RBI. Freshman Melissa Brown (Moreno Valley, CA) pitched her first game as a Bear, allowing seven earned runs on 13 hits to pick up the loss.
In the second contest, Parrott and Katie Tone (North Reading, MA) were hot at the plate, both batting a perfect 3-for-3. Parrott had three RBI on two homeruns, coming at opportune moments in the fourth and fifth innings. Senior Ellie Blake (Downers Grove, IL) picked up Brown’s first victory on the mound, allowing only two earned runs on 12 hits in seven innings.
The Bears will face the Holy Cross Crusaders in their home-opening doubleheader this Tuesday, March 20, at 2:30 p.m.
