Parrott Named Ivy Player of the Week

(Mar. 21, 2001) -- Brown senior Tami Parrott (Wantage, NJ), co-captain of the softball team, has been named the first Ivy League Player of the Week for the 2001 season after her outstanding performances against Villanova and Drexel this past weekend.

While the Bears dropped three of the four decisions, Parrott, the top returning hitter for Brown, was her usual self at the plate. After missing the first game against Drexel, she started in left field for the next three contests, batting a combined 7 for 10. She had two doubles, two homeruns, and an astounding eight RBI during these outings to start off her senior season with a .700 batting average.

Parrott earned First Team All-Ivy and First Team All-Northeast honors last year as a utility player, and led both Brown and the Ivy League with a .431 batting average. She also set new Brown records for homeruns in a season (10) and homeruns in a career (22). Parrott has consistently led the squad in almost every offensive category for the past three years, and has been an All-Ivy selection each season. After only six games thus far, she has already hit three homers - look out for Parrott to break her own season record this year.
