The Brown softball team lost a doubleheader to the Dartmouth Big Green on Sunday, 4-3 and 6-2, to bring the Bears' overall record to 6-30 and their Ivy record to 3-9. Dartmouth improves to 16-14 overall, 9-3 in the league.

Behind the steady pitching of Erin Durlesser (Santa Monica, CA), the Bears took a 3-0 lead by the middle of the sixth inning in the first contest. Julia Iudicello (McLean, VA) scored the first run in the third after hitting a triple and being driven in by Durlesser with a sacrifice fly. Brown scored two more in the sixth when Cara Howe (Missouri City, TX) hit a solo homerun and Angie Galt (Silver Spring, MD) hit a double to put the third run on second base. After getting one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, Dartmouth closed the gap to 3-1. The Bears went scoreless in the top of the seventh, and then the Big Green rallied. The first three batters in the bottom of the seventh singled to load the bases with no outs. Two batters were hit by pitches, and both Erica Morganstein (Portland, ME) and Cherie Comeau (Worcester, MA) drove in two runs to give the Big Green a final victory of 4-3.

After scoring two runs in the top of the first inning of the second contest, Brown was held scoreless for the remainder of the time, as Dartmouth picked up a 6-2 win. Durlesser was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run and one RBI, while Howe, Laura Leonetti (Fresno, TX), and Melissa Brown (Moreno Valley, CA) each hit 1-for-2 in the second game. Eight different Big Green players picked up at least one hit apiece. Ellie Blake (Downers Grove, IL) was tagged with the loss on the mound after relieving Aleana Sutton (West Hartford, CT) in the sixth inning, and Christine Quattrocchi (Lowell, MA) earned the Crimson victory.

The Bears will face the Fairfield Stags tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24, for a home doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
