Softball Falls To Binghamton 6-4 In Semifinal Round Of George Mason Tournament

Fairfax, VA - The Brown softball team fell 6-4 to Binghamton in the semifinal round of the George Mason Tournament on Sunday Mar. 23, finishing tied for third overall at the tournament.

The Bears advanced to the semifinals after beating Iona 9-3 on Friday, St. Francis 10-2 on Saturday and George Mason 6-0 prior to their game versus the Bearcats on Sunday. Brown is now 4-7 overall and has won four of its last six games.

Sophomore pitcher Marissa Berkes (El Segundo, CA) recorded the loss, giving up five runs. Junior Laura Leonetti (Fresno, TX) went 2-4 from the plate with two RBI. Freshman Mary Seid (Spring Valley, CA) also went 2-4, bringing in one run.

Brown continues action on Tuesday Mar. 25 for a doubleheader match at East Carolina beginning at 2:00 p.m.
