Softball Defeats St. Francis 10-2 But Falls To Stony Brook 8-0 At George Mason Tournament

Fairfax, VA - The Brown softball team went 1-1 in the second day of the George Mason Tournament on Saturday Mar. 22. The Bears defeated St. Francis 10-2 before falling to Stony Brook 8-0. Brown is now 3-6 overall.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Bears recorded six runs in the second inning and added two in both the fourth and sixth innings to take the win 10-2 over St. Francis.
Brown recorded a season-high 13 hits with junior Laura Leonetti leading the way with three. Senior Lauren Wong, sophomore Marissa Berkes and freshmen Mary Seid and Jaimie Wirkowski all added two hits each as well.
Berkes recorded her first win of the season on the mound for the Bears, pitching a complete game.
Brown fell 8-0 in its second game of the day against Stony Brook. Stony Brook scored six runs in the sixth and final inning after taking a 3-0 lead through five for the win. The Bears recorded seven hits and no errors. Freshman Marcia Abbott suffered the loss on the mound.
Brown continues action at the George Mason Tournament tomorrow, Sunday Mar. 23 at 9:00 a.m. Its opponent has yet to be determined.
