Stephanie Thompson Named Co-Ivy League Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – Senior co-captain Stephanie Thompson (Chino, CA) has been named co-Ivy League Player of the Week for the competition period ending on April 28, 2013. Thompson, who competed in her final collegiate games for the Bears this past weekend, proved to be one of the driving forces in Brown's two wins over Yale in its last games of the 2013 season.

In 17 at-bats over the course of five games last week, Thompson connected on 11 occasions, hitting .647 with two homeruns, five runs scored and seven RBIs. The infielder also produced an impressive .685 on-base percentage and a 1.059 slugging percentage in her time at the plate. In Friday's 8-1 win over Yale, she went 2-for-3, scoring once and knocking in an RBI. She was equally instrumental in Saturday's 9-8 win over the Bulldogs, hitting a perfect 3-for-3, including a homerun, with two runs and two RBIs in one of her last games in front of a home crowd.

Thompson has rewritten the Brown and Ivy League record books over the course of her stellar four-year career, breaking the Brown career hits record with her performances last week. Additionally, her career batting average of .433 is an Ivy League record, as is her .514 on-base percentage. Her .728 slugging mark ranks second all-time in the league.
