Kristie Chin & Katie Rothamel Earn All-Ivy Softball Honors

Providence, RI- Junior pitcher Kristie Chin (Katy, TX) and senior shortstop Katie Rothamel (Brentwood, TN) earned Second Team All-Ivy honors after both had outstanding seasons for the Brown University softball team. The Bears finished the year 20-22 overall and earned a 7-13 mark in the Ivy League.

Chin had a stellar year for the Bears and earned a 14-5 overall record with a 2.14 ERA to rank third in the Ivy League.  A CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Second Team All-District honoree, Chin made 26 appearances on the mound and started in 18 contests. Chin combined for five shutouts and in 134.1 innings pitched, she allowed just 41 earned runs, walked just 16 batters and struck out 103.

She not only helped lead the Bears on the mound, but she was also an offensive threat at the plate for the team. She batted .375 and combined for 15 hits, eight RBI, nine runs scored and tallied one homerun, a game-winner against Dartmouth on April 28th. She received Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors on March 23 after pitching a near-perfect game against St. Peter's, in which she did not allow any hits or runs, walked just one and struck out seven batters in five innings pitched.

Rothamel led the Bears in nearly every statistical category this season with a .368 batting average, which ranked fourth in the Ivy League.  Her 50 hits ranked fifth in the Ivy League, and her 18 doubles ranked second, while she also led the team in runs (27) and RBI (27).

Rothamel helped guide the Bears to a Lady Pirate Classic Championship at Hampton University on March 15 when she batted .400 in six games for the team.  She was 8-for-20 with eight runs scored, four doubles, two walks and a homerun and 12 RBI to be named the Ivy League's Player of the Week.
