PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown senior soccer standouts Kerrilynn Carney (North Smithfield, RI), Anne Friedland (Toronto, ONT), and Julia Shapira (Los Angeles, CA) have been selected to play in the 2007 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl. The game, which pits players from Division III against those from Divisions I & II, will be played at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Bryant University.

A co-captain along with Shapira, Carney helped to lead the backfield over the past three seasons. After making the team as a walk-on in 2004, she has been a vital part of the defense since the 2005 season, helping Brown post 14 shutouts over the past three years. During her career, Carney played in 51 games, earning 50 starts. A two-time District I Academic All-American, she finished her career with 13 points (4g, 5a).

A Second Team All-Ivy selection this year, Friedland led Brown with four assists on the season. She made an immediate impact as a rookie in 2004 and played in 67 of 68 games, missing one due to an injury last season. A well-rounded player, Friedland has played every position during her Brown career, spending the majority of this season at back. She finished her career with 11 points (1g, 9a) and ranks 18th all-time at Brown for career assists.

An Honorable Mention All-Ivy honoree for the second year in a row, Shapira helped to lead the Bears as a co-captain this season. After playing at back for the majority of her career, including the first half of this season, she was moved up to the midfield and immediately made an impact, scoring the first three goals of her career to finish third on the team in scoring with six points. During her tenure, Shapira played in 46 games, earning 37 starts, including all 34 over the past two seasons.
