Brown senior tri-captain Lindsay Cunningham (Cumberland, RI) has been named a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-American in women's soccer. A forward, Cunningham earned a spot on the District I First Team to move onto the national ballot. The Academic All-America teams are selected by the CoSIDA's (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America committee. Cunningham is one of four student-athletes from District I to earn Academic All-America distinction and she is the only Ivy League student-athlete to earn the honor. Entering her final semester, Cunningham has a 3.83 GPA, while concentrating in Commerce, Organization, and Entrepreneurship.
A Second Team All-Ivy selection for the second straight year, Cunningham finished her senior season as Brown's leading scorer with 15 points, six goals, and three game-winning goals. This past season, the Bears' tri-captain was 10th in the Ivy League in points, fifth in goals, and third in game-winning goals.
A four-time All-Ivy honoree and two-time CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection, Cunningham played in 66 career games, starting in 52. She will leave Brown ranked 11th all-time with 19 career goals, 10th all-time with 15 career assists, and 10th all-time with 53 career points. In addition, her eight assists during the 2006 season ranks fifth all-time at Brown for assists in a single season. The recipient of the Coaches' Award in 2006, Cunningham has been a SAAC representative since the fall of 2007. She has also volunteered at Fox Point Elementary School since her freshman year, and has served as a youth soccer coach at camps and also providing individual lessons.
