Brown senior Michaela Sewall, of Newton, Massachusetts, was named a First Team District I Verizon Academic All-American in women's soccer. The team is selected by voting members of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). She is concentrating in Psychology and has a 3.4 GPA.
Sewall recently moved into eighth among Brown's career assist leaders with 15, and leads the Bears with six assists this season. The second leading scorer on the team with 16 points, 10th in the Ivy League, Sewall ranks second in the League in both assists and assists per game. She is also second on the team with five goals, 10th in the Ivy League. A 2002 Honorable Mention All-Ivy Selection, Sewall also earned SoccerBuzz Third Team All-Regional recognition last season.
Under the direction of Head Coach Phil Pincince, the women's soccer team currently has a 9-4-2 record and a 3-3 mark in the Ivy League. The Bears will travel to Yale on Saturday, November 8, for a key Ivy League contest at 7:00 p.m.
