Yellin Named Ivy League Player of the Week

Oct. 15, 2007

PROVIDENCE, RI - Sophomore goalie Steffi Yellin (Savannah, GA) has been named Ivy League Player of the Week after helping to lead the Brown women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Harvard in the Bears' only game last week.

Yellin's extraordinary performance in net was instrumental in helping to lead Brown to the victory as she posted 10 saves, including seven in the second half. The Bears were outshot 24-8 for the game and 16-2 in the second half, but Yellin stopped everything that came her way to help lead the Bears' defense. The 5'4" Yellin made several diving saves and several on high shots from outside where she jumped up and punched the ball over the crossbar. Her performance helped to snap Harvard's three-game winning streak, hand the Crimson their first home loss of the season, while also shutting them out for the first time this year.

Brown returns home this Tuesday, October 16th, when it hosts in-state rival URI at 7:30 p.m. The game video and audio will be streamed live over the internet.
