Lanzire and Cahan Named Ivy League Player and Rookie of the WeekBrown junior Kim Lanzire, of Bristol, Rhode Island, totaled two goals and one assist during the week to earn Ivy League Player of the Week honors for her efforts. Freshman teammate Molly Cahan, of Encino, California was named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week as the Bears sweep the League honors for the week ending September 17, 2000.
Lanzire, who currently leads Brown in scoring with seven points (3g, 1a), struck first to get the Bears on the board during the first half against Fairfield. Six minutes after Fairfield tied the game in the second half, Lanzire assisted on the gamewinner, scored by Cahan, in the 2-1 victory. In Sunday's contest against Lafayette, Lanzire booted in the lone goal of the game from 18 yards out as Brown won it's fifth straight game and earned its fourth shutout of the season. Sunday's goal marked the third consecutive game in which Lanzire has scored, two of which were game winning goals.
Cahan earned Rookie of the Week honors after she scored the game-winner on a diving header at Fairfield. She is currently third on the team in scoring, leading all freshmen, with three points (1g, 1a). Cahan scored her first career goal just two weeks after she earned her first career point, an assist in the Bears' season opening 3-0 victory at Army.
