Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated, Besting Fairfield 2-1
Just 35 minutes into the contest, Lanzire picked up a rebound off a shot by freshman Kristin Ferrell to get the Bears on the board and take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
At 62:38, Fairfield took advantage of a loose ball in the middle and fired it past Brown goalie Sarah Gervais to knot the game at 1-1.
However, Brown wasted no time in regaining the lead. Just six minutes later, Lanzire delivered a cross from the right side and freshman Molly Cahan scored on a diving header for the game-winner.
The Bears were outshot by the Stags 12-11, however junior Mary Jo Markle and freshman Gervais each had a strong game, splitting time in the net and stopping two Fairfield shots a piece.
The Bears will host Lafayette in their 2000 home opener this Sunday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson Field.
