Women's Soccer Shuts Out Colgate, 2-0

CAPE COD, MA - The women's soccer team posted it's second shutout in as many games, defeating Colgate 2-0 at the ECAC Tournament on Cape Cod and bringing their season record to 2-0.

After 40:48 of scoreless play, freshman Julie Herrold tallied her first collegiate point to break the tie and get the Bears on the board with an unassisted goal.

Just 15 minutes into the second half, junior Allyson Schwerdt scored an ensurance goal, while senior Bekah Splaine added the assist.

Goalkeepers, junior Mary Jo Markle stopped seven Colgate shots in the first, while freshman Sarah Gervais recorded two in the second half of the 2-0 blanking.

Action continues on Sunday, September 10, as the Bears will face Boston University at 2:00 p.m. The Terriers were defeated by Boston College 4-2 in the early game on Friday.
