Former Women's Soccer Standout Bekah Splaine '01 Signs With Boston Breakers

May 12, 2003

BOSTON, MA - Former women's soccer standout, Bekah Splaine '01 was signed to the Boston Breakers' developmental team on April 21, 2003. Once the team goes to 16 players or below, the developmental players are activated, and she was eligible to play this past weekend in New York. Because of the US National Team call-ups, Splaine could see time of the field a number of times this year.

One of the all-time assist leaders at Brown, Splaine finished her Brown career with 39 points (11g, 17a). Her 17 assists ranks seventh in Brown history. The 1998 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, she earned First Team All-Ivy recognition as a junior and Second Team All-Ivy honors as a senior. In addition, she was named Second Team All-New England following her junior campaign, and was selected for the NEWISA Senior All-Star Game, and the Umbro Select All-Star Game, while earning First Team Northeast Regional All-America honors.

Upon graduation from Brown, Splaine played for the Boston Renegades during the 2001 and 2002 season. She helped to lead the Renegades to back-to-back W-League titles, scoring the game-winning goal in the 2002 Championship game against Charlotte, while earning All-Tournament honors that same year.
