Brown Drops 1-0 Decision To Dartmouth In Season Finale
Nov. 10, 2007
Providence, RI - A Dartmouth goal less than five minutes into the game proved to be the difference, as the Brown women's soccer team (6-10-1, 3-4-0 Ivy) lost to the Big Green (5-9-2, 3-3-1 Ivy) on a chilly Saturday night at Stevenson Field. The game ends the Bears' season, as the team honored its seven seniors before the game.
It did not take Dartmouth long to get its lead, as the Big Green scored just 4:49 into the contest. As the ball bounced around the Brown box, it found its way to the foot of Melisa Krnjaic, who sent a waist-high shot across and into the left side of the net.
From there, the game was evenly contested. The Bears had chances to get the equalizer, the best coming in the 71st minute, when sophomore Melissa Kim (Bethesda, MD) sent a rocket towards the top right corner of the goal from about 40 yards out, but hit the crossbar head-on.
Sophomore goalkeeper Steffi Yellin (Savannah, GA) made six saves in the loss, while Dartmouth's Amanda Webb made two. The Bears out-shot the Big Green 15-10 for the game.
