PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown University women's soccer team (6-8, 2-3) scored two goals in the first half and one in the second to earn a 3-0 win over Cornell (4-8-2, 1-4) in an Ivy League contest at Stevenson Field. With the win, Brown teams posted a perfect 4-0 record over the Big Red today as Field Hockey, Football, and Men's Soccer also won.

The Bears wasted little time in taking a 1-0 lead when junior Meghan Schreck (Hudson, MA) scored the first goal of the game just 1:12 into the contest. Sophomore Jill Mansfield (East Windsor, NJ) sent the ball into the box from the sideline and sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) attempted to head the ball into the net. However, the ball bounced off a Cornell defender out to Schreck, who sent the ball into the far corner for her fourth goal of the year.

At 25:35 of the half, Schreck increased Brown's lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the game, scoring the goal in nearly the same way as the first. This time it was a Mansfield flip throw from the sideline that went into the Cornell box. The Big Red keeper came out of the net and misplayed the ball, which squirted over to Schreck. She patiently trapped the ball, settled it, and placed it into the open net for the 2-0 lead.

Brown came out of half-time just like the start of the game, and scored its third goal of the night just 56 seconds after the break. Junior Kim LaVere (Chatsworth, CA) sent a long pass up the sideline to Moos. Moos beat her defender and one-touched the ball past the goalie, who had come out to challenge at the top of the box. With a wide-open net and no one else to beat, Moos placed the ball into the far corner for her fourth goal of the year.

The Bears nearly went up 4-0 at 68:25 of the game off a beautiful connection from Moos to freshman Anne Friedland (Toronto, ONT), but the goal was called off after Friedland was whistled offsides.

For the game, junior Hilary Wilson (Monterey, CA) recorded seven saves in net. Brown continues action on Wednesday, October 27, when it travels across Providence to take on the Friars at PC in a 3:00 match.
