Oct. 18, 2003
CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown University (8-3-2, 2-2-0) women's soccer team earned a 3-2 victory over Harvard (5-4-4, 1-1-1) on Saturday afternoon in an Ivy League contest at Harvard.
Brown took an early 1-0 lead as sophomore Meghan Schreck (Hudson, MA) netted an unassisted goal just 6:17 into the contest. However, the Crimson notched an unassisted goal of their own less than three minutes later to knot the game at 1-1.
Freshman Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) put the Bears back on top with her first of two goals at 29:32, with freshman Jill Mansfield (East Windsor, NJ) and senior leading scorer Michaela Sewall (Newton, MA) notching assists on the goal.
Harvard continued to fight and knotted the contest once more, at 64:07. However, with less than five minutes to go in the game Moos tallied the game-winning goal off a corner kick taken by senior Julie Herrold (La Crescenta, CA).
Senior goalie Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI) made five saves in the victory for Brown. The Bears continue action on Saturday, October 25, when they travel to Ithaca, NY for a match-up against Cornell at 11:00 a.m.
