Women's Soccer Wins Overtime Thriller Against Sacred Heart

Oct. 11, 2002

PROVIDENCE, RI - Junior Molly Cahan (Encino, CA) scored the game-winning goal with just 38 seconds remaining in the first overtime as Brown (5-4-2) defeated Sacred Heart (6-4-1), 1-0, in a non-conference game Friday evening at Stevenson Field.

The goal, which was scored off the rebound of a corner kick, was Cahan's third goal in as many games and her second game-winning goal of the season.

The Bears controlled the tempo for the entire game, out-shooting Sacred Heart by a 20-8 margin, as junior Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI) was forced to make just three saves in picking up her second career shutout.

Senior Caitlin Carey (Boxford, MA) led Brown with four shots, while junior Michaela Sewall (Newton, MA) and sophomore Michelle Sriwongtong (Rosemead, CA) each added three.

Brown, who won its second straight contest, continues action on Tuesday, October 15th, when it hosts Hartford in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Stevenson Field.
