HARTFORD, CT - The Brown women's soccer team (7-2-2) defeated the University of Hartford, 2-0, on Tuesday evening, earning its sixth shutout of the year.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead halfway through the first half when senior leading scorer Michaela Sewall scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal at 23:54. She was assisted by freshman Kathryn Moos and sophomore Meghan Schreck.
Moos turned in a three-point night less than 15 minutes later when she tallied her second goal of the season to give Brown a 2-0 lead at 37:08.
Senior goalie Sarah Gervais returned to action after missing two games with an injury and picked up her Ivy League-leading sixth shutout of the year with one save.
The Bears outshot the Hawks 11-6 and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Brown continues action on Saturday, October 11, when it hosts Princeton in a key Ivy League match at 7:00 p.m.
