BOSTON, MA-- The Brown women's soccer team (3-3-0) dropped a 2-1 decision at Boston University (6-1-0) on Sunday afternoon in a Northeast Regional contest.
After nearly an entire half of scoreless action, the Terriers took a 1-0 lead with just 50 seconds remaining in the opening frame. At 52:21, Boston University scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Junior Hillary Wilson (Monterey, CA) got her hands on the ball, but could not hold onto it and it slipped past the goal line for a 2-0 BU lead.
The Bears came to within one goal with a minute and a half left in regulation when sophomore Jill Mansfield (East Windsor, NJ) collected a pass from sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) in front of the goal. Mansfield placed the ball in the left corner for her first career goal, but that was as close as the Brown would get.
In net for the Bears, Wilson recorded eight saves. Brown continues action on Sunday, September 26, when it travels to Hanover, NH for the Bears' 2004 Ivy League opener at Dartmouth. The game begins at 4:00 p.m.
