Women's Soccer Quartet Earns 2013 NEWISA All-New England Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four members of the Brown women's soccer team garnered NEWISA All-New England accolades for their performances during the 2013 season.

Senior goalkeeper MC Barrett (Ithaca, N.Y.) and junior back Annie Gillen (San Clemente, Calif.) earned First Team All-New England honors while forward Chloe Cross (Seattle, Wash.) was tabbed with Second Team recognition.  Senior captain Mika Siegelman (Piedmont, Calif.) earned Third Team honors for the Bears.

Barrett earned Second Team All-Ivy honors this season after posting a .800 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average while playing in the second half of all 17 games.  The senior finishes her career at Brown with a 23-14-4 overall record.

Gillen earned her second consecutive Second Team All-Ivy recognition after registering a team best six assists in 2013, good for a third place tie amongst Ivy League assist leaders.  Appearing in all 17 games this season, Gillen helped backstop the Bears defense, allowing just 1.12 goals per game.

Cross, another Second Team All-Ivy selection, started all 17 games for the Bears in 2013, tallying a team best seven goals (three game-winning) and 19 points overall.  Cross' 19 points placed her fifth overall in Ivy League point scoring while finishing third overall in shots with 61.  Her three game-winning strikes were good for an eight-way tie for first in the league in that category alongside teammate, Mika Siegelman.

Siegelman tallied three goals (all game-winning) and two assists in 17 starts this season. The senior captain was also a Second Team All-Ivy honoree for the Bears in 2013.  All of Siegelman's points this season came in wins, including a strike in double overtime during a key 3-2 conference victory over Cornell on October 27.
