Providence, R.I. – Brown women's soccer seniors Amber Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Kiersten Berg (Salt Lake City, Utah) are two of 24 Division I New England soccer players selected to compete in the 2013 NEWISA senior bowl. The annual contest is slated for Saturday, December 7, on the campus of Merrimack College at 1 p.m.
Bledsoe started all 17 games in goal for the Bears in 2013, splitting time with fellow senior MC Barrett (Ithaca, N.Y.). In 765 minutes of action this season, Bledsoe recorded a 1.18 goals-against average and .844 save percentage as the Bears finished 10-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Ivy League play. In 2012, Bledsoe garnered Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades and was a CoSIDA/Capital One First Team Academic All-District and Academic All-Ivy Selection.
Berg chipped in four goals, two game-winning, over a span of 13 games played in 2013. The senior tallied goals in both games against Yale in the season's final weekend as well as markers against Dartmouth and Bryant. Berg's four goals ranked second on the team while her .250 shooting percentage was good for fourth overall in the Ivy League.
