Siegelman's OT Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Over Cornell, 3-2

ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Mika Siegelman's goal in the 104th minute propelled the Brown women's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory over Cornell at Charles F. Berman Field on Sunday.  The win improves the Bears' record to 8-4-1 and 3-1-1 in Ivy League action this season.  Cornell drops to 7-6-1 and 1-4-0 in Ivy League play.

MC Barrett, the native of Ithaca, stopped three of four shots on goal in the second half and overtime to improve to 7-2-0 this season.  Amber Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio) turned away four of five shots on goal in the first half for the Bears while Kelsey Tierney made five saves in 103:44 for the host Big Red.

Caroline Growney gave the home team a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute with assists from Elizabeth Crowell and Rachel Schlobohm.  The Bears would even the game less than 12 minutes later as senior Louisa Pitney (Washington, D.C.) deposited her first tally of the year at the 40:00 mark.  Annie Gillen (San Clemente, Calif.) recorded her fourth assist while Allison Mullin (Boulder, Colo.) notched her first assist of the season on Pitney's goal.

The Bears grabbed their first lead of the match in the 64th minute on the strength of a Chloe Cross (Seattle, Wash.) goal. Louisa Pitney recorded her first helper of the season on Cross' sixth goal of the season.

Seemingly in control, Brown was unable to close the game out in regulation as Cornell's Growney struck again with her second goal of the game with just over eight minutes to play.

After a scoreless initial overtime session, Mika Siegelman (Piedmont, Calif.) sent the Bears home winners as she put home her third goal of the season on an assist from Chloe Cross to secure the 3-2 win.

Brown will return to action on Oct. 29 for a non-conference match versus Harvard at Stevenson Field (4:30 PM).
