Women's Soccer Upended at Dartmouth, 2-0

HANOVER, N.H. – After a scoreless battle for nearly 70 minutes, a fluky own goal paved the way for a 2-0 Dartmouth victory over the Brown women's soccer team at Burnham Field on Tuesday night.  Amber Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio) stopped all four shots on goal in the first half before giving way to MC Barrett (Ithaca, N.Y.) in the second half.  Barrett stopped two of the four shots on goal in the second half to fall to 6-2-0 in 2013.

The Bears fall to 7-4-1 while Dartmouth improves to 6-5-3 on the season.

Bledsoe stymied a Dartmouth flurry in the first half as she knocked away a free kick sent into the box in the 25th minute to keep the game scoreless. Junior Chloe Cross (Seattle, Wash.) registered the Bears' lone shot of the first half, a turnaround blast that sailed just over the goal in the 36th minute.  The Big Green responded with a great bid less than three minutes later as a feed into the box was re-directed just past the left post.

Dartmouth outshot the Bears by a 9-1 margin in the first 45 minutes while landing four of the nine shots on goal.

The Big Green nearly broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute as Corey Delaney's point blank shot struck the right post.  Dartmouth finally broke through in the 69th minute as Marina Moschitto's shot deflected off a Brown defender and hopped over the outstretched arm of MC Barrett for an own goal to put Dartmouth up 1-0. Moschitto struck again in the 80th minute as her header off a Corey Delaney corner kick found the back of the net to secure the 2-0 win.

Dartmouth outshot the Bears 15-3 while holding a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.  Senior Mika Siegelman (Piedmont, Calif.) and sophomore Charlotte Beach (New Haven, Conn.) recorded Brown's shots in the second half.

The Bears will return to action on Sunday as they go on the road to face conference rival Cornell at 1 p.m.
