BROOKLINE, MA – Junior Mika Siegelman (Piedmont, CA) converted a penalty kick in the 86th minute to snap a 0-0 deadlock and lift the Brown women's soccer team (4-1-0) to a 1-0 win over Northeastern (1-6-0) on Thursday evening at Parsons Field.
The Huskies dominated most of the opening frame, outshooting Brown, 6-3, during the first 45 minutes. However, the Bears came back in the second and took over the game, using a 9-3 advantage in shots to finish leading the category, 12-9.
The Bears were relentless in their attack, applying pressure throughout the final 45 minutes until finally getting the game-winner on the late penalty kick.
Juniors Amber Bledsoe (Cincinnati, OH) and MC Barrett (Ithaca, NY) each made one save for Brown, which posted its fourth shutout of the season and third 1-0 victory. In all three 1-0 wins, Siegelman has netted the game-winner, as she now shares the team scoring lead with sophomore Chloe Cross (Seattle, WA) with six points.
After playing three straight on the road, Brown returns home on Sunday, September 16, to host Sacred Heart in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
