Women's Soccer Recognizes Eight Student-Athletes with Team Awards

The Brown women's soccer team held its annual season-ending banquet, and eight different individuals were honored with team awards. Senior Allison Kagawa (Mililani, HI) earned the Ridgely MVP Award, while classmate and Captain Sarah Hebert-Seropian (Vaudreuil-Dorion, QUE) was awarded the Sarah Nicholson Memorial Award. Senior Joanna Price (San Juan Capistrano) won the Margeson Team Spirit Award, while senior Marybeth Lesbirel (Holmdel, NJ), junior Diana Ohrt (Simi Valley, CA), and sophomores Alison Mullin (Lafayette, CO) and Kiersten Berg (Salt Lake City, UT) were recognized with the Dobson-Kay Coaches' Award. A new award was also handed out for the first time this year, the Denis Chartier Memorial Award, which was awarded to junior Eliza Marshall (North Andover, MA).

The Ridgely MVP Award is presented annually to the Most Valuable Player as voted by the team. It is in honor of Professor and Mrs. Beverly Ridgely for their outstanding contributions to women's soccer. 2011 Award Recipient: Allison Kagawa '12 (Mililani, HI).

The Sarah Nicholson Memorial Award is given to a senior on the team who, through total dedication and loyalty, has given the most of themselves to the good of the team. 2011 Award Recipient: Sarah Hebert-Seropian '12 (Vaudreuil-Dorion, QUE).

The Margeson Team Spirit Award is given to that player who exhibits the most team spirit as voted by the players. 2011 Award Recipient: Joanna Price '12 (San Juan Capistrano, CA). 

The Dobson-Kay Coaches' Award is presented annually to the player(s) chosen by the coaches for outstanding contribution, dedication and sportsmanship. 2011 Award Recipients: Kiersten Berg '14 (Salt Lake City, UT), Marybeth Lesbirel '12 (Holmdel, NJ), Alison Mullin '14 (Lafayette, CO), and Diana Ohrt '13 (Simi Valley, CA).

The Denis Chartier Memorial Award was initiated in 2011, and is presented annually to the team's leading point scorer. It is in memory of former Assistant Coach Denis Chartier, who died at the young age of 56 and was a loyal, dedicated coach with the Brown women's soccer program for 15 years. 2011 Award Recipient: Eliza Marshall '13 (North Andover, MA).

Brown letter sweaters were also handed out to both four-year and first-year letterwinners. Hebert-Seropian, Kagawa, Lesbirel, Price, and classmates Gloria Chun (Irvine, CA) and Carly Ruiz (Costa Mesa, CA) all earned white sweaters. Freshman Kirsten Belinsky (Los Altos, CA), Jenn Casey (St. Petersburg, FL), Briel Crespi (Berkley, MA), Chloe Cross (Seattle, WA), Annie Gillen (San Clemente, CA), Josette LaRochelle (Milton, MA), Allie Reilly (Lawrenceville, NJ), and Mallory Yant (Fenton, MO) all earned brown sweaters.
