Cross Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week
PROVIDENCE, RI – After scoring the game-winning goal in Brown's 1-0 victory over New Hampshire and adding an assist in the Bears' loss to Sacred Heart, freshman Chloe Cross (Seattle, WA) has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Cross has been a valuable spark off the bench for the Bears and scored her first career goal to lift Brown to the win over the Wildcats on Thursday night. With the score tied at zero through 83 minutes, Cross provided the game-winner with just 6:07 left to play when she dribbled down the right sideline and launched a hard-struck shot into the left side of the net from the top right of the box. On Sunday, Cross helped the Bears fight back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game at 2-2 just three minutes into the second half. Kicking into the wind, Cross sent a perfectly placed corner kick into the box, where it met the head of Alison Mullin (Lafayette, CO) to tie the score at 2-2. Sacred Heart would answer with the game-winner just six minutes later.
The Bears continue action on Thursday afternoon, September 22, when they travel to Amherst, Massachusetts to face UMass in a 4:00 p.m. contest. It is Brown's seventh-straight non-league game before opening Ivy play on Sunday, September 25th, at home against Dartmouth.
