PRINCETON, NJ – The Brown women's soccer team (5-4-3, 0-2-1) suffered a 1-0 setback to Princeton (7-4-0, 3-0-0) on Saturday evening in New Jersey. The two teams played a tightly contested game with Princeton holding a 10-6 advantage in shots and with each team earning a pair of corner kicks, one in each half.
However, a 42nd-minute goal that went from a Kacie Kergides corner kick to the heads of Caitlin Blosser and Kalie Bartholomew and then in would prove to be the difference.
Brown was led by senior Gina Walker (Canyon Country, CA), who recorded two shots on goal, while freshman Maddie Wiener (Portland, OR), junior Marybeth Lesbirel (Holmdel, NJ) and senior Charlotte Rizzi (Bethesda, MD) all had one.
Freshman Amber Bledsoe (Withamsville, OH) faced just the one shot in the first half, while classmate MC Barrett (Ithaca, NY) stopped both shots she faced in the final 45 minutes. Princeton goalie Kristin Watson stopped five shots in net for the Tigers.
Brown will look to rebound this Wednesday when it hosts in-state
rival URI in a 4:30 p.m. contest at Stevenson Field.
