PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown women's soccer team (3-2-1) played Sacred Heart (4-3-2) to a 0-0 double overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at Stevenson Field. Both teams had quality chances throughout regulation and overtime, but the defense for each team made the stops it needed to and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Brown had the best chance of the overtime when freshman Kiersten Berg (Salt Lake City, UT) picked up a lose ball in front of the net and had only Sacred Heart's goalie Meghan Reichelt to beat. She fired a quick shot that Reichelt couldn't get to, but the ball caromed off the right post to end the threat.
The Bears outshot Sacred Heart, 21-18, while each team had six shots on goal. The Pioneers earned seven corner kicks to Brown's six.
Berg and senior Gina Walker (Canyon Country, CA) paced Brown with three shots each, while sophomore Eliza Marshall (North Andover, MA), sophomore Rachael Pack (Park City, UT), senior Sylvia Stone (Bronx, NY), sophomore Diana Ohrt (Simi Valley, CA), and freshman Maddie Wiener (Portland, OR) all had two.
The Bears return to action on Thursday afternoon when they host
UMass in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
