Bears Drop Heartbreaker to Arizona, 2-1, in Overtime

Tucson, AZ - Arizona (2-3-1) scored the tying goal with less than four minutes remaining in regulation and the netted the gamewinner 6:45 into the first overtime to earn a 2-1 victory over the Brown women's soccer team (0-2-0).

The Wildcats dominated the game throughout, outshooting the Bears, 20-4, including a 4-0 margin in the extra frame. However, it was Brown that would score the first goal, late in the first half. Senior Paige Reidy (Honeoye Falls, NY) found the foot of freshman Eliza Marshall (North Andover, MA), who scored her first career goal at 32:39 to give the Bears a 1-0 lead, despite getting outshot, 7-3, during the first 45 minutes.

Brown held onto the lead 53:35, but with just 3:46 left to play, Renae Cuellar slipped the ball past senior Brenna Hogue (Concord, CA) for the game-tying goal. Cuellar would then connect for the game-winner just 10 minutes later, scoring off a pass from Samantha Drees at 96:45.

For the game, Reidy and Marshall each tallied two shots to lead the Bears. Hogue stopped five shots in net, including one in overtime, while Devon Wharf had one save for the Wildcats.
