PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's rugby team, elevated to varsity status in April, has released its inaugural fall schedule in an announcement made by head coach Kathy Flores on Tuesday. The Bears will host four matches this fall at Marvel Field, the site of the former Marvel Gymnasium located adjacent to Brown Stadium.
Brown will open its season on the road against the Ivy League's other varsity program, Harvard, on September 13. The Bears will then travel to Philadelphia to battle Penn on September 20 before returning home for a four-game homestand. On September 27, Brown will take on Dartmouth in its first home match as a varsity program before playing host to Columbia on October 4.
After a two-week hiatus, the Bears return to action against Ivy foe, Princeton, on October 18 before closing out the regular-season fall slate at home against Navy on October 25.
The fall postseason begins with the Ivy Championships from November 1-2 and the ACRA Regionals from November 15-16. Should the Bears advance, the ACRA Final Four takes place from December 6-7.
In April, Brown became the 10th NCAA varsity program to participate in rugby, joining Eastern Illinois, West Chester, Bowdoin, Norwich, Quinnipiac, Davenport, Harvard, Life University, and Central Washington.
