Pierpont and Staley Earn IWLCA All-Region Honors

PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior co-captain Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL) and sophomore Kate Staley (Needham, MA) of the Brown women's lacrosse team were selected to the 2004 IWLCA North All-Region Second Team.

A Second Team All-Ivy selection this season and a Second Team All-American in field hockey during the fall, Pierpont has earned All-America lacrosse status for the first time in her career. The third-leading scorer on the team with 31 points (23g, 8a), Pierpont led the Bears with 13 caused turnovers, 55 ground balls, and 38 draw controls. One of the top midfielders on the Brown squad, her 55 ground balls led the Ivy League and ranked seventh in the nation. A two-sport athlete, Pierpont finished her Brown lacrosse career with 84 points (56g, 28a).

An Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection this spring, Staley was also named Second Team IWLCA All-Region. The Bears' leading scorer with 44 points (33g, 11a), Staley also led the Bears with 13 caused turnovers. She ranked second on the team with 32 draw controls and fifth with 27 ground balls. One of the top Brown midfielders, Staley has notched 63 points (46g, 17a) in two seasons with the Bears.

Brown finished the 2004 season with a 7-8 record and a 2-5 mark in the Ivy League.
