Biros and Staley Earn All-Ivy Recognition

PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior Kate Staley Needham, MA) and junior Amie Biros (Bethesda, MD) of the Brown women's lacrosse team were selected to the 2006 All-Ivy Women's Lacrosse Teams as selected by the Ivy League's eight head coaches.

After earning Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors last season, Biros was named to the Second Team this year, leading the Bears in scoring for the second straight year. Biros led Brown with 39 points, 29 goals, and 10 assists, playing in all 16 games. She also led the Bears with two game-winning goals and 34 draw controls, to go along with 20 ground balls.

Staley is making her third straight appearance on the All-Ivy team, earning Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors this season. Staley finished the year ranked second on the team in points (32), second in assists (7), and third in goals (25). She has finished as the Bears' second-leading scorer in each of the past two seasons, after leading the Bears in scoring as a sophomore in 2004. Staley also finished fourth on the team this year with 29 ground balls and third with 12 caused turnovers. She also added 15 draw controls. For her career, Staley finished with 129 points, seventh all-time at Brown, 98 goals, sixth all-time at Brown, and 31 assists, 10th all-time at Brown.

The Bears finished the 2006 season with a 5-11 record and a 1-6 mark in the Ivy League.
