Vitkus and DiGioia Earn All-Ivy Recognition

PROVIDENCE, RI - Juniors Lauren Vitkus (Skaneateles, NY) and Noelle DiGioia (Pittsburgh, PA) of the Brown women's lacrosse team were selected to the 2008 All-Ivy Women's Lacrosse Teams as selected by the Ivy League's eight head coaches. Vitkus was named Second Team All-Ivy, while DiGioia earns Honorable Mention honors, as each was named All-Ivy for the first time in her career.
The Bears' leading scorer with 40 points, Vitkus also led Brown with 31 goals and nine assists. A top threat on the circle, Vitkus led the Bears with 41 draw controls and was second in the Ivy League with 2.56 draw controls per game. During the season, Vitkus posted at least one point in all but one of Brown's games, with at least three points in nine of the 16 contests. For her career, she has played in all 48 games, earning 47 starts. She currently ranks sixth all-time at Brown with 72 career draw controls and second all-time for draw controls in a season with the 41 from this year.
DiGioia helped to lead the Brown defense this season, with her consistent play and leadership. She played nearly every minute of every game this season, missing just nine out of a possible 960 minutes, while leading the team with 17 caused turnovers and 36 ground balls. She finished the season ranked second in the Ivy League with 2.25 ground balls per game. In addition, DiGioia was tied for third on the team with 15 draw controls, despite starting behind the restraining line for the draw. For her career, she has started all 48 games over the past three seasons and currently ranks among Brown's top-15 all-time with 43 caused turnovers.
