Caggiano Named Women's Lacrosse Ivy Defensive Player of the Week
April 30, 2002
Brown Senior Niki Caggiano (Freeport, NY) posted a career-high tying 22 saves in a 9-7 win over Boston University and posted 18 against #1 Princeton, to earn Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 28.
The senior goalkeeper played solidly in net, relying on her quick reflexes to shut down Boston University for nearly 28 minutes and Princeton for nearly 18 minutes.
The Brown record holder for career saves (646), Caggiano also owns the Brown record for saves in a season, set last year, with 209.
The honor is the fourth of her career and first of the 2002 season for Caggiano, whose 22-save effort is a single-game-high in the League this season.
The Bears conclude the 2002 season at Harvard on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
