Princeton, NJ - The women's lacrosse team (3-10, 1-5 Ivy) could not overcome a five point halftime deficit, dropping to Princeton 17-5. The Tigers pressured the Bear's defense all afternoon, out shooting Brown 41-14.
The Bears were held for most of the first half without a goal, getting their first of the game with 5:38 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Amie Biros (Bethesda, MD) scored her first goal of the game to put the Bears on the board, 4-1. Princeton answered back two minutes later, grabbing a five point lead going into the break.
The Tigers went up by twelve, scoring seven goals in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, before Brown answered with three goals of their own for a 12-4 score with 7:30 remaining in the game. Junior Ashley Holden (Alexandria, VA) took a pass from Biros and netted her ninth goal of the season at the 16:49 mark. Thirty seconds later, senior Sarah Passano (Baltimore, MD) recorded her first goal the game for a 12-3 score. Biros and Passano each recorded a goal later in the half, both finishing with two goals in the loss.
Senior Julia Southard (Manhasset, NY) had a busy afternoon in net for Brown, saving 12 shots in the loss.
The Bears will return to action on Wednesday, May 4, when they return to Stevenson Field for a 7:00 PM Ivy League match-up with the Harvard Crimson.
