Women's Lacrosse Falls to Penn, 14-9

The women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-9 decision to Penn on Saturday afternoon, falling to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the Ivy League.

Both teams traded goals in the first half until Penn scored three unanswered goals to put them ahead 8-5 at the half. Sophomore Christine Anneberg (Denver, CO), who scored twice in the first half, led the Bears with four goals. Junior Jocelyn Moore (Washington, DC), junior Bekah Rottenberg (Colrain, MA), and sophomore Meredith Goodell (Baltimore, MD) also scored in the first half for the Bears.

Anneberg scored two more in the opening eight minutes of the second half and the Quakers added two more of their own to stay ahead by three goals with 21:59 remaining in the game. The two teams traded goals for the next five minutes with Rottenberg adding her second of the game with 17:18 left to play.

However, Penn scored three unanswered goals in a four minute span during the final 10 minutes to break the game wide open. Sophomore Katie Zabel (Elicott City, MD) added Brown's ninth goal with 43 seconds left in the game.

In net, senior Niki Caggiano picked up 13 saves on the Quakers 33 shots. Brown continues action when the Bears face Boston University on Wednesday afternoon in Boston.
