Keeping the tempo lively, Brown lead with a free position goal scored by senior midfielder Emily Blaton (Shaker Heights, OH) less than two minutes later to bring the score 2-1. This marked the last time the Beats would lead in the game, with Cornell producing with four unanswered goals before the Bears were able to find the net at 20:56 with Staley's second goals of the game. Cornell again responded with two back-to-back goals to spread the scoring gap to 2-5.
