Providence, RI - Senior Kate Staley's (Needham, MA) third goal of the game at the 18:54 mark of the second half broke a 7-7 tie and lifted Brown to a 10-7 victory over Boston College. The win lifts the Bears to 2-0 overall, while the Eagles drop to 0-2.
Brown trailed 7-5 with 17 minutes remaining following a goal by Boston College's Jenna McCabe. The Bears scored five unanswered goals, tying the game on a goal by freshman Krystina DeLuca (Hillsborough, NJ) with 14:13 remaining, and then taking the lead for good on Staley's goal. Sophomore Mimi DeTolla (Stony Brook, NY) and junior Amie Biros (Bethesda, MD) netted insurance goals for the Bears.
DeTolla also registered a hat-trick for the Bears with three goals, while DeLuca added two goals. Freshman Noelle DiGioia (Pittsburgh, PA) notched her first career goal for the Bears.
Bears' sophomore goalie Melissa King (Pepper Pike, OH) faced 27 shots in the net, making 11 saves.
The Eagles were led by junior Katherine Wagoner, who scored three goals, and Elizabeth Kadison, who added two goals. Eagles goalie Katie Monaghan registered three saves in net, facing 17 shots.
The Bears will be back in action again at home next Saturday against Maryland. Game time is 12:00 noon.
