  • Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced

    The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2013 spring Academic All-Ivy, with 10 Brown student-athletes earning recognition. The five men and five women were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
  • Bre Hudgins and Erin Roos Named IWLCA All-Region

    Brown juniors Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) and Erin Roos (Wilmette, IL) have been named Second Team IWLCA Northeast All-Region. The duo are among 128 Division I student-athletes selected to one of the All-Region teams for 2013 and are among 14 student-athletes from the Ivy League to be recognized with this honor.
  • Abby Bunting, Bre Hudgins and Erin Roos Earn All-Ivy Honors

    Brown juniors Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) and Erin Roos (Wilmette, IL) and sophomore Abby Bunting (Wellesley, MA) have earned All-Ivy honors in a vote by the eight Ivy League women’s lacrosse coaches, announced by the League Wednesday afternoon. Hudgins was named First Team All-Ivy, while both Roos and Bunting earned Second Team All-Ivy recognition.
  • Women's Lacrosse to Host Yale on Senior Day

    The Brown women's lacrosse team (9-5, 2-4) closes out its 2013 season on Saturday afternoon when the Bears host Yale (7-7, 1-5) on senior day. Brown will look to snap a three-game skid with losses to Cornell (9-7), Boston College (15-12), and Penn (10-7, ot). Prior to the game, the Bears will recognize the four members of the Class of 2013 – Sidney Jacobs (Blue Bell, PA), Lindasy Minges (Rochester, NY), Tara Rooke (Wilbraham, MA) and Kasey Wagner (Southborough, MA).
  • Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Yale, 10-8, in Season Finale

    Yale (8-7, 2-5) broke open a 3-3 game by scoring the final three goals of the first half and then survived the Bears’ comeback attempt to hold on for a 10-8 win over the Brown women’s lacrosse team (9-6, 2-5) on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson Field.
  • Women’s Lacrosse Drops 10-7 Heartbreaker to Penn, in Overtime

    With Brown clinging to a 7-6 lead and with just over a minute remaining in regulation, the Quakers’ goalie, Lucy Ferguson, intercepted a Bears’ pass to give Penn the ball with 1:07 left in the second half. Brown worked relentlessly to slow Penn’s clear, but Shannon Mangini, who finished with three goals, tied the game at 7-7 with 30 seconds left on the clock, forcing overtime.
  • Bunting Sisters of Wellesley Continue Family Lacrosse Legacy

    Their 86-year-old grandfather, Lloyd Bunting Jr., was a four-time All-American at Johns Hopkins University, and was inducted to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1975. Their father, Lloyd III, taught Caroline and Abby Bunting the fundamentals of the sport he had played at Brown University, using the front yard of their Wellesley home as a practice field. He would referee their one-on-one battles, and challenge each to complete as many passes as possible to him in a one-minute drill.
  • Bears Comeback Spoiled by BC’s Second-Half Run, as Brown Falls to #19 Eagles, 15-12

    After spotting visiting Boston College (9-6) a 4-1 lead in the game’s opening 4:25, the Brown women’s lacrosse team (9-4) clawed its way back into the contest, eventually tying the score at 8-8 on junior Bre Hudgins’ (Syracuse, NY) first goal of the afternoon six minutes into the second half. The 19th-ranked Eagles responded by scoring four unanswered goals in a span of 12 minutes and the Bears could never get closer than two goals, falling to their second straight ranked opponent.
  • Women's Lacrosse to Face Cornell in Critical Ivy Battle Friday Afternoon in Ithaca

    The Brown women's lacrosse team (9-2, 2-2) travels to Cornell for its final road contest of the 2013 regular season and will look to stretch its current winning streak to three games after posting wins over Harvard (15-9) and Bryant (12-9) last weekend. The Bears and Big Red will face off in a critical game for Ivy positioning on Friday afternoon, as the two teams both have two wins and control their own destinies for the final spot for the 2013 Ivy Tournament.
  • Bears Edged by #18 Cornell, 9-7

    Trailing, 7-4, after the first half of play, junior Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) and senior Tara Rooke (Wilbraham, MA) scored back-to-back goals to bring the Bears to within 7-6 with 19:04 remaining. However, Brown could not find the equalizer, as #19 Cornell (7-4, 3-3) outscored the Bears, 2-1, over the final 15 minutes and then held on for the win on Friday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field. The loss drops Brown to 9-3 overall and to 2-3 in the Ivy League, as the Big Red leapt over the Bears in the Ivy standings and now occupy the fourth and final spot for the Ivy League Tournament.
  • Healy Named Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week

    Brown junior Grace Healy (Bellport, NY) was named Ivy League co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 7th. Healy was instrumental in helping lead Brown to a 2-0 week with wins over Harvard, 15-9, and Bryant (12-9). The Bears are off to a 9-2 record this spring, and are guaranteed a winning season for the first time since 1999. For the week, Healy notched six points (4g, 2a), 13 draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball.

    Junior Grace Healy (Bellport, NY) scored three goals and assisted a fourth and also won a game-high eight draw controls to help lead the Brown women’s lacrosse team (9-2) to a 12-9 win over in-state rival Bryant (6-6) on Sunday afternoon at Stevenson Field.
  • Women's Laxers Host Harvard and Bryant this Weekend

    The Brown women's lacrosse team (7-2, 1-2) will look to rebound from an 8-7 loss to #15 Dartmouth when it hosts a pair of games this weekend at Stevenson Field. The Bears welcome Ivy foe Harvard on Saturday at 12:00 noon and then host Bryant in the fourth annual Ocean State Cup game Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
  • Bears Outscore Harvard, 9-2, in Final 20 Minutes to Pull Away and Earn 15-9 Victory over Crimson

    After leading by as many as three goals twice during the opening half only to see Harvard (2-7, 1-3) come back to take a 7-6 lead eight minutes after halftime, the Brown women’s lacrosse team (8-2, 2-2) would outscore the Crimson, 9-2, during the final 20 minutes to pull away will a 15-9 win over Harvard. The win assures the Bears a winning season for the first time since 1999 when the team finished with a 7-7 record.
  • Brown Lacrosse Cruises To Fourth Straight Win, 14-3, Over St. Mary’s

    The Brown women’s lacrosse team earned its fourth straight win and extended its record to 7-1 overall, with a 14-3 victory over St. Mary’s College (CA) Tuesday afternoon at Stevenson Field. Junior Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) led the Bears’ attack with three goals and an assist. The loss drops St. Mary’s to 2-6 on the season.
  • Bre Hudgins’ Overtime Goal Lifts Brown Laxers Over USC, 9-8

    Junior Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) scored her third goal of the game with 15.8 seconds remaining in the third overtime period to lift Brown to a 9-8 overtime win over Southern Cal in a thrilling non-league game at Stevenson Field. Brown extends its record to 6-1 overall with the victory, while USC falls to 5-7 overall.
  • Brown Hosts USC in First-Ever Contest Between Two Programs

    Brown hosts the University of Southern California on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. for the first-ever contest between the two schools. Following last Friday’s 16-7 victory over the Bobcats of Quinnipiac University, the Bears enter Friday’s game with a 5-1 record overall. USC comes to Providence with a 5-6 overall record.
  • Bears Host Quinnipiac Friday Afternoon

    rown continues its four-game homestand Friday afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. non-league contest against Quinnipiac at Stevenson Field. The Bears will then be off for a week and return to action on Friday, March 22nd, when they host USC in a 5:00 p.m. game. Following Tuesday’s 13-4 win over Holy Cross, Brown is now 4-1 on the season.
  • Brown Laxers Overpower Quinnipiac, 16-7

    Senior Lindsay Minges (Rochester, NY), junior Grace Healy (Bellport, NY), and sophomores Abby Bunting (Wellesley, MA) and Janie Gion (Northfield, IL) scored three goals each to lead Brown to a 16-7 non-league victory over Quinnipiac Friday afternoon at Stevenson Field. The win lifts the Bears to 5-1 overall, while Quinnipiac falls to 2-4 overall.
  • Bears Return Home for First of Two Games at Stevenson This Week

    Brown opens a four-game homestand Tuesday afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Holy Cross at Stevenson Field. The Bears will also host Quinnipiac on Friday afternoon, a game that was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 16th, at Quinnipiac, but recently moved to Brown. The Bears are 3-1 on the season after falling to Princeton in New Jersey, 18-11, on Saturday afternoon.
  • Five Bears Score Multiple Goals in 13-4 Win over Holy Cross

    The Brown women's lacrosse team (4-1) utilized a balanced attack and solid team defense to post a 13-4 win over visiting Holy Cross (4-4) at a rain-soaked Stevenson Field on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Kasey Wagner (Southborough, MA) led five different Bears who all had at least two goals with her first career hat-trick. Senior Tara Rooke (Wilbraham, MA), junior Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) and sophomore Abby Bunting (Wellesley, MA) all had two goals and an assist, and sophomore Alyssa DiBona (Media, PA) scored twice.
  • Bears Return to Ivy Action at Princeton Saturday at 1:00

The Bears travel to New Jersey this weekend for a 1:00 p.m. Ivy League game against Princeton, one of just two road games for Brown during the month of March. The Bears return home next week to host Holy Cross (Tuesday) and Quinnipiac (Friday).

    The Brown women’s lacrosse team (3-1, 1-1) dropped its first game of the season, falling to Princeton (3-1, 1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Class of 1952 Stadium. The Bears were led by junior Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY), who scored four goals, and sophomore Abby Bunting (Wellesley, MA), who scored three.
  • Roddy Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

    Brown sophomore Kellie Roddy (Poway, CA) was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 3rd. Roddy was instrumental in helping lead Brown to a 2-0 week with wins over Columbia, 11-10 (3ot) and Manhattan (10-4). The Bears are off to a 3-0 record this spring, their best start in over 17 years. For the week, Roddy posted a 5.53 GAA and a .522 save percentage with 12 saves.
  • Bears Dominate Manhattan in 10-4 Victory

    The Brown women’s lacrosse team used a balanced offense and solid defense to defeat Manhattan, 10-4, in a non-conference contest Sunday afternoon on Stevenson Field. The win improves the Bears record to 3-0 overall, while the Jaspers fall to 0-3 on the season.
  • Bears Open Ivy Slate Saturday against Columbia; Host Manhattan Sunday

    Coming off a 15-10 season-opening win at George Mason, the Brown women’s lacrosse team (1-0) begins its 2013 Ivy campaign on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Columbia. The Ivy contest is the first of two games this weekend, as the team will host Manhattan at 1:00 on Sunday afternoon, as they play their first two games on the newly-turfed Stevenson Field. Brown and Columbia are two of six Ivy League teams to play their League opener on Saturday, as Cornell hosts Harvard and Yale hosts Dartmouth.
  • Bears Outlast Lions; Win Triple Overtime Thriller, 11-10, on Minges Goal

    With time winding down in the third overtime period, a brilliant Tara Rooke (Wilbraham, MA) feed from behind the cage, allowed Linsay Minges (Rochester, NY) to net the game-winner with two seconds on the clock in Brown’s Ivy League opener. With the win, the Bears improve to 2-0 (1-0 Ivy League) on the young season, while Columbia falls to 1-2 (0-1 Ivy League).

    The Brown women’s lacrosse team begins its challenging 2013 campaign this Saturday, February 23rd, with a 1:00 pm contest against George Mason, in Fairfax, Virginia. More than one third of the Bears’ opponents this season, including five Ivy foes, are ranked in the pre-season top 20.

Sophomore Abby Bunting (Wellesley, MA) led the Bears with four goals, while sophomore Janie Gion (Northfield, IL) scored three and junior Danielle Mastro (Endicott, NY) added two.
  • Hudgins Featured as Ivy League Celebrates Black History Month

    Junior women's lacrosse captain Bre Hudgins (NY) is featured as the Ivy League celebrates Black History Month. She enters her junior season ranked 20th all-time at Brown with 47 career draw controls. As a sophomore last year, Hudgins started all 14 games on attack and finished second on the team in both points (29) and goals (23).
