Women’s Lacrosse Recognized with 2nd-Highest GPA in the Country

PROVIDENCE, RI – For the second consecutive year, the Brown women's lacrosse team was recognized as having one of the top three team GPAs in the country, earning IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) Merit Squad Status. Institutions were named Merit Squads by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season.

With a cumulative team GPA of 3.51 during the 2011-12 academic year, Brown moved up one place to second in the country this season, behind American and ahead of Drexel. The three Division I Merit Squads join 42 teams from across the country in also earning IWLCA Academic Squad honors. To be eligible, programs must achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or above for the 2010-11 academic year. Brown was one of six Ivy League programs to be named an Academic Squad, joining Columbia, Cornell, Penn, Princeton and Yale.
