ECACHL Preseason Polls Released

Providence, RI - The preseason ECACHL women's hockey coaches and media polls were released Wednesday, and both placed Brown in the middle of the conference. After finishing in a tie for third last season and making it to the ECACHL championship game, the Bears were ranked in a tie for fifth by the coaches and a tie for sixth by the media.

The Bears' 2006-2007 season opens October 20 against the University of New Hampshire in Durham. The ECACHL slate will begin one week later, when the team travels to Cornell and Colgate. The women's league now has 12 teams, with the addition of Rensselaer.

Last season, Brown finished with a 15-13-5 overall record and a 10-6-4 conference record. The Bears finished the regular season in a three-way tie with Harvard and Clarkson for third place in the league, earning the third seed in the playoffs via tiebreaker. Brown beat sixth-seeded Dartmouth in two games in the quarterfinals and upset second-seed Princeton in the semifinals before falling to Harvard in the ECACHL Championship, 4-3.
