Link Earns Kate Silver Award at All Sports Banquet

Freshman Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) was awarded the Kate Silver Award, which is presented to the outstanding first-year female varsity athlete. Link is a member of the NCAA Frozen Four National Runner-up women's ice hockey team.

Jess had an impressive first season with the Bears, ranking second on the team in points, with 42. Head Coach Digit Murphy describes Link, as having "the best natural offensive instincts of any women's player ever to play at Brown." She tallied 19 goals and 23 assists, with three goals registering as game-winners.

Jess was recognized for her efforts in the post-season, as she was named to the All Ivy Second Team, while also achieving ECAC All- Rookie Honors. Jess was also named ECAC Rookie of the Week (Jan. 28) and US College Hockey Online's Offensive Player of the Week (Mar. 5).

Prior to her arrival at Brown, Jess lettered two years in soccer and softball at Shenedehowa High School in Clifton Park, NY. She earned Second Team Suburban Council All-Star honors for soccer and softball. She was also a member of the 2001 U-19 National Championship Syracuse Stars ice hockey team, where she recorded 70-50-120.

Jess is the daughter of Paul and Eloise Link of Clifton Park, NY, and has one brother, Matthew.

Brown completed the season with a 25-8-3 overall record, an ECAC Championship, an NCAA Runner-Up honor, and a 2nd place finish in the Ivy League.
