The first semifinal contest will be between University of Minnesota-Duluth and Niagara University.
The University of Minnesota, Duluth, will begin defense of its 2001 national championship title in the 5 p.m. EST semifinal game on Friday, March 22, against the top seed from the east region, Niagara (26-7-1). Niagara had the best record in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) regular-season play.
The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (28-3-5), will face the winner of the ECAC tournament, Brown (24-7-2), in the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. EST. Minnesota is the top seed from the west region and claimed the regular-season and tournament championship in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
The winners of each semifinal will meet for the national championship on Sunday, March 24 at 4 p.m. EST. A third-place game will be contested to start the day at 12:30 p.m. EST.
