Three members of the Brown women's ice hockey team were named to the 2004-05 All-Ivy team. Senior forward Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) and junior defender Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) were named First Team All-Ivy, while freshman forward Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) earned Honorable Mention.
This seasons leading scorer, Link has battled back from an early season injury to lead Brown with 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points. Link has netted seven power play goals, ranking her in the top ten in the ECACHL and is sixth in the Ivy League for goals scored. This is the second consecutive year Link earned First Team All-Ivy, also getting Second Team All-Ivy in 2002 and Honorable Mention in 2003. Link is among one of Brown's All-Time Leading Scorers, currently ranked fifth with 154 points on 81 goals and 73 assists for 154 points in 121 games played.
One of the Bear's top defenders, Heinhuis has stepped up her offensive presence this season netting six goals and dishing out seven assists for 13 points, sixth in the Ivy League among defensive scoring. Heinhuis and company are ranked 13th nationally in scoring defense, allowing only 2.28 goals per game.
Freshman forward Moore, has been a driving force in the offensive zone for the Bears this season. Moore is tied with Link with a team leading 25 points, netting 11 goals and 14 assists, ranking her eighth in the nation among rookies for points per game. Moore received ECACHL Rookie of the Week honors for the week of 12/1, after tallying five points on two goals and three assists in the weekend sweep of Union.
The Bears will travel this weekend to Canton, NY where they will take on St. Lawrence for a best of three ECACHL quaterfinal series with the Saints. The two will face-off on Friday March 4, at 3:30, Saturday March 5, at 2:00 and if necessary Sunday March 6, at 2:00, having the winner go to Schenectady, NY for the conference final four the following weekend.
