Providence, RI - After playing more than 180 minutes in net over the course of four days, Brown sophomore Nicole Stock (Buffalo Grove, IL) was named the ECACHL Goaltender of the Week Monday. Stock started all three of the Bears' games last week, as the team beat UConn (2-1 in overtime), Union (6-0), and RPI (4-1), improving her season record to 9-7-2. The wins constitute a season-high three-game winning streak for the team.
Over the course of the three games, Stock stopped 70 of the 72 shots she saw. In 181:35, she posted a .972 save percentage and a 0.66 goals-against average. Against Connecticut, Stock stopped 25 shots as the Bears took an overtime victory. Just two nights later, Stock shut out the Union Dutchwomen, her third shutout of the season. Less than 24 hours later, she turned away 30 of RPI's 31 shots, as the Bears kept their playoff hopes alive with another win.
For the season, Stock now boasts a .913 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against average. She has started 18 of the Bears' 27 games, including the last seven. Stock was also named the ECACHL Goaltender of the Week on Jan. 22 after playing in all three games the previous week, starting two and letting in just one goal in 137:24.
Also named to the ECACHL Honor Roll was sophomore forward Savannah Smith (Fort St. John, BC). Smith had eight points in Brown's three games, including both goals against UConn and assists on the game-winners against Union and RPI. She has 10 points in her last four games after totaling just four in the previous 23 games.
The Bears' playoff hopes are still alive. In order to make the postseason, Brown needs to defeat #3 Dartmouth and #6 Harvard on the road this weekend, and RPI must lose to Clarkson and #5/4 St. Lawrence at home.
