Providence, RI - The women's ice hockey team (11-10-2, 8-7-1 ECACHL) will host a two game series with the Lady Lakers of Mercyhurst College (18-6-2, 7-0-1 CHA) this weekend, having the first face-off dropped at 7:00 pm this evening at Meehan Auditorium. The two squads will meet again tomorrow, Saturday February 12 at 4:00 to close out the weekend.
The Bears are looking to gain momentum as they head into the final two weeks of ECACHL conference match-ups. Coming into this weekend freshman Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) leads the Bears in points and assists recording 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists. Senior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) looks to add to her team leading nine goals, in the weekend series with the Lady Lakers. The Bears have not had much luck when facing top ten opponents going 1-9-0 this season.
The Lady Lakers are coming off a 3-0, loss to Colgate that snapped a eight game win streak and was the first time since November Mercyhurst has been shut out. The Lady Lakers have been lead by Teresa Marchese's 33 points, including a ten game streak in which she recorded a point. Marchese's streak was also broken when Mercyhurst dropped to Colgate.
Following the match-up on Friday the Bears will have a meet and greet session shortly after the game, where they will be available for pictures and autographs.
